Update on CP of NYS Projects

Transformation Training Initiative BIP Grant:  The goal of this project is to assist individuals receiving disability services with achieving their desired personal outcomes by offering a variety of trainings directed at the individual, their families, and their direct service providers.  The other larger goal under this funding is to increase the understanding and ability to apply the principles of the Personal Outcome Measures in the 24 Cerebral Palsy Affiliates across NYS.

Managed Care Initiative BIP Grant: The goal of this project is to work in coordination with the 24 CP of NYS Affiliates across NYS to improve readiness for and care coordination within a managed care environment.

The major deliverables for this project are:

  • A conflict free care management model or protocol that facilitates the integration of long term disability supports and services, medical and mental health services in a managed care environment.
  • A shared services model to increase efficiencies in administrative areas such as human resources, billing & claims, IT, or other administrative areas in preparation for long term Medicaid managed care (LTMMC).
  • Assessment of Affiliate’s IT readiness against managed care organizations expectations for data management and reporting.

Centers of Excellence Grant:  Effective September 1, 2015, the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), in collaboration with the State Education Department (SED) and the Department of Health (DOH), has provided grant funding to establish three Centers of Excellence (COE) in the care and treatment of children with ASD and other complex disabilities. A key goal of this new network of Children’s Residential Project (CRP) facilities is for the quality and efficiency of care as well as the network of support services for these children to improve. New standards, metrics, protocols, and research will be developed and shared throughout the grant’s two-year duration not only among the Centers but with the other CRPs across the state. CP of NYS will coordinate the grant activities of the COE: The Center for Discovery, Developmental Disabilities Institute and Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
