Day & Vocational Programs
Day Programs for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities:
Each day program offers a comprehensive, intensive array of services that are individualized to meet each individuals' unique needs to learn skills for community living. The programs include opportunities for individuals to participate in integrated, community-based activities. The staff is a dedicated group of teachers, teacher aides, clinicians, administrative support and supervisory staff, plus psychologists, social workers, dietitians, physical and occupational therapists, activity coordinators, speech pathologists and nurses. Our programs serve individuals who are either ambulatory or non-ambulatory, with avariety of developmental disabilities, including mild to profound mental retardation. To be eligible you must be:
- 18 years or older
- have a developmental disability with significant functional impairments
The Cora Hoffman Center Day Program (CHC) is located on the north shore of Staten Island. Specialized programs are offered to individuals with behavioral challenges, to those whose advanced age requires special attention and for those individuals needing augmentative communication. A Health Care Center is available within the same building. The program emphasizes the use of skills in community inclusion activities.

The Jerome Belson Center (JBC) is located in the Morrisania section of the Southeast Bronx. The program provides opportunities for participants to learn functional skills in environments such as a kitchen, a beauty salon, a solarium, and an art and crafts studio. The facility is able to provide service for individuals with behavioral challenges and medically frail individuals. A Health Care Center available is within the same building.

The Linda Buch Gherardi Center (LBG) is located in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn. The services provided are individually designed to offer consumers more choice and opportunity in day activities. This beautiful and modern facility includes a Health Care Center within the same building.

Vocational Services – Supportive Work:
Supported Employment Program is a vocational program that operates in all five boroughs providing opportunities for individuals with a variety of disabilities or traumatic brain injuries to receive Job Placement Training, Advocacy, and Follow-Along Services. A Career Club meets every other week to help increase understanding of key issues relating to employment and the effect of work on Social Security and other benefits.
Day Habilitation is a community-based volunteer program for individuals with developmental disabilities. Individuals participate in internships in order to explore career interest, develop marketable work skills, and/or perform work that is meaningful and rewarding. Rather than being held in a classroom, the learning is conducted at community sites, so real hands on experience is obtained in this “program without walls”.
To be eligible, individuals must:
- Be age 18 or older
- Have a developmental disability (Supportive Employment and Day Habilitation) or Traumatic Brain Injury (Supportive Employment)
- Have significant functional impairments
