NYC Ballet Workshop A Highlight of CP of NYS Annual Conference

Dancers from the New York City Ballet (NYCB), conducted a dance workshop for children with disabilities at the Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State (CP of NYS) Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs on Monday, October 30. Following the workshop, the children and workshop attendees received cards with biographies and photos of NYCB dancers Ashley Laracey and Cameron Dieck. Ms. Laracey and Mr. Dieck signed autographs following the workshop. A demonstration of what the children learned in the workshop was presented that afternoon for more than 400 conference attendees at the Saratoga City Center. Gunther Ortt to Be Honored

CP Rochester Author Wins State Award

Jane Gefell, from CP Rochester is being honored with the Al Felmet Achievement Award at Imagine, the 2017 CP NYS Annual Conference in Saratoga Springs on October 30. This award recognizes a person with cerebral palsy whose achievements are an inspiration to others.

She has written three books which talk about her life and her family. She is also a passionate advocate for people with disabilities and speaks to school children about what it’s like living with a disability, telling them, “I am just like you.”
