Statewide Advocacy - October Statewide Trend Blitz to Governor - INFORMATION
OCTOBER STATEWIDE TREND BLITZ TO GOVERNOR
CP of NYS in collaboration with the other statewide and regional
provider and advocacy associations is participating in a joint campaign to
convince Governor Paterson to include a trend factor and additional funding for
development in the OMRDD portion of his Executive Budget proposal for 2010-11.
The blitz will focus on the first two weeks of October. However
this is a big initiative and Affiliates that haven't reached their targets
should continue with the effort and conclude by the end of the October.
The advocacy campaign will utilize letters, phone calls and in some cases
e-mails to the Governor from family members and staff. TO BE
SUCCESSFUL THE VOLUME OF CALLS AND LETTERS MUST BE MASSIVE! Therefore, we
are asking each agency to ensure that a MINIMUM of 10% of
the staff and families of individuals receiving OMRDD funded
services, either write or call the Governor to urge him to include a trend
factor and additional funding for development in the OMRDD portion of his
Executive Budget for 2010-11.
WHEN: The Campaign will
take place during the first two weeks of October. However, if your 10%
target has not been met it is important to keep up the
effort until the target is met.
WHO: Family members
(including parents, siblings and relatives) and staff members.
WHAT: WRITE and/or CALL Governor David
Paterson.
